It is the dreaded time of the year that all students fear....EXAMS!!!
You begin to panic about not understanding everything, how are you going to put the pieces together, can i answer those calculation questions, will i forget about the decimal point are common fears all students face. Getting the results you desire comes down to preparation. Preparation and a positive mindset will help you achieve what you desire-timetables and visualizing you passing and smashing the exams will encourage you to go further and dig deep into your energy reserves to stay focused Top Tips 1.Do not compare yourself to others, if others are saying that they haven't started revising yet, then that is a big fat lie. Everyone will always look out for number 1 and will never secretly want you to get there. But that is all good, don't take that in a negative way. We all have some form of jealously/fear within us, so don't hold it against them. 2. Know your learning style- read/listen/write.....use your strengths to your advantage 3. Magic number is 3-learn it forget it....then you learn it...forget it....then lastly you learn it....hey presto....you remember it. You will never forget it even if you wanted to. 4. Focus on your weak points....trust me. Don't be thinking and praying they won't turn up in the exam because i can guarantee they will 5. no cramming/last minute revision the night before....get a decent night sleep so you are full of energy for the next day. Last point of all and most important one.....you get what you focus on. If you think your going to fail then guess what that's what your mind will deliver. Your brain is a very powerful tool.....it can do anything that you ask it to do.

Wow, I cannot even believe how the last two days have gone.
Podcasting was something I had thought about but never acted on it. You may say why? I didn't act upon it because I didn't think anyone would want to be on my show. You may ask who is this girl? Who is Raj Bains? How in the space of a week shes launched a website and now podcasting. How is she doing this all? I believe pharmacy is in a paradigm shift and with a shift comes confusion, frustration, anger. With all these feelings it stops us from thinking about how to move forward and how we can unite. PHRRMCY is a company that my husband I founded with a clear vision in mind, to develop a variety of solutions to aid that transition. So why not start with a podcast. What better way to get out there and hear from the people that are trying to make a change. What better time to pull the trigger, with the RPS elections 2018. We see year on year that voters mainly vote on the first day and then it will treacle down over the next few weeks. With a podcast, listeners can listen to it to and from work, its available 24/7. It put the interviewees on point, gut reaction and first answers are what we want. I had a fabulous day of conducting 5 interviews yesterday with 5 of the candidates from RPS elections 2018. I started off with Harry Cotterill, a new pharmacist with a vision, i then interviewed Tohidul Islam, founder of the pharmacist cooperative. The evening got really busy where i was able to interview Hemant patel, who has such a way with words i encouraged him to speak out more often. His views on supporting next generation was basically a man after my own heart. The evening finale was with Hala Jawad and Sultan 'SID' Dajani....boy was this an interview like no other. The laughter was infectious, and somehow i ended up bringing 50 shades of grey into the conversation and yet we all still managed to complete the interview on all things pharmacy and answer all the questions. Boy did the night carry on, the Twitter hits were through the roof that night. I had to turn phone off after midnight thinking, i have a baby to look after still, must get some sleep in...but i was still buzzing at how i decided to do it Monday night, i messaged candidates on LinkedIn and low behold, Tuesday i do 5 interviews and they were amazing!! My interview style had been commended by the candidates, saying it was an interview like no other, it was brilliantly funny yet serious. Was that my intention? Hand on heart i just wanted it to be natural, i wanted to get to know the candidates, so I'm sure my listeners would want to as well. Today i had the lovely chance of interviewing Asim Mirza, fabulous guy that loves technology oh and star trek oh and the Avengers lol This is something i will be doing regularly....i want voices to be heard, i want to take those questions and challenge them with the decision makers. What have i got to lose? But for the moment, I'm loving the engagement We believe that knowledge will help us get a better life, get us that dream job we always wanted. If that was so then why are there extremely bright individuals in the world without a job or in a career that does not do their knowledge justice.
We are at times our own worst enemy. We are taught from a very young age (through no fault of our parents as they know no different) that grades and knowledge will get you that future that you want. This is not true, order to get that dream job or be in the profession that you love you must have skills. Key life skills I see students struggle with on a daily basis. “Contrary to popular wisdom, knowledge is not power-its potential power. Knowledge is not mastery. Execution is mastery. Execution will trump knowledge every day of the week”. Tony Robbins I have done many interviews in my years of an experienced pharmacy manager and i can see through the lack of confidence in the individual on the other side of the table, i can see that potential that they do not believe that they have. I have fought why i have given jobs to students when they lack basic skills like communication, or multitasking. I have seen that potential and I am a very rare individual that would risk having someone untrained in all areas to come work with me in the pharmacy. I have watched these students grow to become confident communicators, handling difficult situations to becoming a key member of my staffing. Giving chances like these to students are a rare occasion in the world that we are in. Which is why i made it a mission of mine to give back and support the next generation that are coming out into this field. We are in an evolving world of pharmacy, what you see today will not be the same when you qualify. Here are PharmaMastery we want to support you to becoming confident, competent pharmacists that as MASTERS in their field. Show the old generation what you are made of and what difference you can make to the world. Lets embrace change with innovation on how things are taught and applied. Here you have support 24/7, a network of other peers going or have gone through the same thing. Use this as a portal to build your reach. Use this opportunity to speak to pharmacists in other sectors to show there are more opportunities for a pharmacist other than working in community or in hospital. Broaden the horizon, what you focus on is what you’ll produce. How much energy you put into it is the how much you’ll see in your results. Passing exams doesn’t have to be hard, its only hard if you put barriers to it and don’t understand your own learning style. I can’t wait for the results of this portal to show what difference it has made to students lives and how it will help with their future to come. These are skills all students will find invaluable. |
